LGBTQ+ Born This Way & Freedom of Choice in Free Democratic Society!

I often have mixed feelings about seeing scientific studies that "prove" that we were indeed "born this way" with our predisposed sexual orientations, attractions, inclinations and innate sense of what our true gender identities are! Not that I don't appreciate the scientific backing for who we are but that we feel the need to be apologists for being LGBTQ+ to those, who want to make their own heterosexual orientation, attractions, inclinations the standard by which to judge others! Some base it on their own fragile sexual insecurities or toxic masculinity and others on archaic religious beliefs that totally contradict all current scientific knowledge!! Most of the time these two are intertwined.

In a free and democratic society we do not need to constantly prove that our sexuality or gender identity is real, a part of who we were born as, NOT a SIN, and a normal part of human nature and diversity. We have freedom of choice to live our lives and love whom we love without interference from the State; or religious groups to whom we haven't sworn any allegiance to! Separation of Church and State guarantees freedom of religion to those so inclined and also freedom from imposed religious morals on the State.

Those who go around trying to impose their religious versions of morality on others are violating that separation and making threats of eternal damnation on anyone they decide to target is nothing less than hate speech. Hate speech motivates hate crimes, discrimination, verbal and physical assaults on those who are LGBTQ+.

In the end we know that such people don't live by their own stated beliefs, excuse their own offenses as minor, and will not cease their bigotry because of any new scientific discovery in our favour. They still speak about Adam & Eve and the creation of all things 6000 years ago. They are joyfully looking forward to Armageddon and being "Raptured" also know as being incinerated in a nuclear holocaust! Such people cannot be reasoned with as they are living in alternate realities.

The only "choice" we are forced to make is not to be LGBTQ+ but to choose to live our truths in spite of the bigotry, discrimination, and abuse that is hurled at us by these type of people and groups!

So YES WE WERE BORN THIS WAY BUT WE HAVE FREEDOM OF CHOICE TO LIVE OUR LIFE ACCORDING TO OUR INNATE SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS, ATTRACTIONS, INCLINATIONS AND GENDER IDENTITIES! And in a free society should be able to without fear of discrimination, verbal or physical abuse.
